Synopsis

During the final days of the Bakumatsu era, a legendary assassin called Hitokiri Battousai terrorized the nation. Unmatched in skill and feared for his ruthlessness, he vanished mysteriously at the height of the Japanese Revolution. Ten years of peace have passed since then, yet war veterans still shudder at the mention of his name. What they don't know is that Battousai has abandoned his killing spree entirely. Now going by Kenshin Himura, he wanders the countryside as a cheerful swordsman trying to atone for his past. He's sworn off killing for good and instead focuses on helping anyone in trouble. When he crosses paths with Kaoru Kamiya, whose kendo dojo is being targeted by a fraud claiming to be Battousai, Kenshin jumps in to help. Grateful, Kaoru invites him to stay at the dojo, and he finally settles down from his wandering. Rurouni Kenshin follows Kenshin as he protects those who need it most. But as old enemies resurface alongside new threats, the question becomes whether he can actually stick to his pacifist ideals, or if his past will drag him back into violence.
