Synopsis

The Holy Grail grants any wish, but its power comes with a curse—three previous wars fought over it ended in nothing but bloodshed and stalemate. Still, the Einzbern family is convinced the Fourth Holy Grail War will be theirs to win, especially now that they have a vessel for the Grail itself. To make it happen, they hire Kiritsugu Emiya, a ruthless mercenary known as the "Magus Killer," sealing the deal with a marriage contract to their daughter Irisviel. Kiritsugu is thrown into a brutal seven-way deathmatch. Each participant commands a Servant—a legendary warrior summoned to fight for them—and each has their own reasons for pursuing the Grail. With his Servant Saber by his side, Kiritsugu faces opponents driven by ambition, ideology, and desperation. His toughest match comes from an unexpected direction: Kirei Kotomine, a priest caught in his own spiritual crisis, who becomes obsessed with Kiritsugu himself. Fate/Zero adapts Gen Urobuchi's light novel and serves as a prequel to Fate/stay night, taking place ten years earlier. What unfolds is a battle royale where anyone can die—and probably will.
