Synopsis

Thorfinn grew up hearing old sailors' tales about Vinland, a legendary land across the ocean that was supposedly warm, fertile, and peaceful—nothing like the frozen Icelandic village where he was born. His father once told him, "You have no enemies, nobody does. There is nobody who it's okay to hurt." But as Thorfinn got older, he realized his father was dead wrong. Now he's a mercenary, and war is all he knows. The conflict between England and Denmark is escalating, and Viking warriors are thriving in the bloodshed. Both sides are desperate to recruit these fighters, knowing they could tip the scales of power. The Vikings don't care which side wins—they just want glory and plunder. For Thorfinn, there's one thing driving him forward: killing Askeladd, the man who murdered his father. It's his only real goal in this endless cycle of violence. To the Vikings, paradise isn't some distant peaceful land—it's the war itself, and they're content to keep fighting as long as the killing continues.
