Character Overview
Cnut is the son of Sweyn Forkbeard, Denmark's king. He comes across as soft or even effeminate—the type who'd rather hang back than charge into battle. He's got Ragnar, his retainer, basically glued to his side, and he leans on him pretty heavily. That said, he's not a total pushover; when Thorfinn starts in on him, Cnut doesn't just take it lying down.
His main problem with the Viking crew is twofold: his wimpy demeanor and his genuine Christian faith. The raiders don't have much patience for either one. They mock him relentlessly for both, seeing him as soft in body and soft in conviction—basically everything a proper Viking shouldn't be.
