Synopsis

It's the year 71 of the True Era. Humanity's spread across the galaxy, settling independent colonies among the stars, while Earth itself is carved up between two superpowers locked in constant warfare: the Atlantic Rim United States and the Dorssia Military Pact Federation. There's a third player though—Japan and the Oceanian Republic—who've managed to stay neutral and actually prosper while everyone else fights. Kakumeiki Valvrave kicks off at a JIOR space colony where everything's about to go to hell for Haruto Tokishima, a seventeen-year-old kid just trying to live his life. Dorssia attacks without warning, and they're after something specific: powerful mechas called Valvraves that are supposedly hidden at Sakimori Academy, Haruto's school. When the fighting breaks out and his friends are in real danger, Haruto finds one of these machines and pilots it—but the price is steep. He has to give up his humanity to use the thing. From there, he teams up with L-elf, a Dorssian agent who's brilliant at strategy but has his own agenda, and together they kickstart a full revolution aimed at saving the world.
