Aoba Watase is just your average high school student until a giant robot called a Valiancer suddenly targets him. His mysterious classmate Hina Yumihara saves him and drops a bombshell—she's from the future, and so is the robot. Before he can even process that, she catapults him 70 years into the future to keep him alive. Aoba wakes up in the cockpit of a Valiancer named Luxon right in the middle of a war between the Free Pact Alliance and the Zogilia Republic. He manages to link up with Dio Weinberg, an FPA pilot, and the two perform a "coupling"—a technique that lets them share their experiences and boost each other's abilities. He survives the battle, but the FPA ship Cygnus captures him for questioning. All Aoba cares about is getting home. He has no idea he's about to be pulled into a full-scale conflict that could decide the fate of the world.
