Synopsis

Humans have no idea, but the Heavenly World holds a tournament every so often to pick its next ruler. A hundred celestial beings called "God Candidates" descend to Earth and recruit middle schoolers, giving them supernatural powers. These students then fight each other in a battle royale—whoever wins gets to choose any ability they want, and their God Candidate patron becomes the next God. Kousuke Ueki, an ordinary middle schooler, gets roped into this when his teacher Kobayashi grants him a weird power: turning trash into trees. His classmate Ai Mori thinks he's crazy for entering, but Ueki's determined to do things his way after seeing other power users abuse their abilities for personal gain. As he faces off against stronger competitors—including the skilled Seiichirou Sano, Rinko Jerrard, Robert Haydn, and Hideyoshi Soya—he quickly learns the tournament is way tougher than he bargained for.
