Chiaki Kon is a Japanese anime director best known for helming the Higurashi franchise—both the original Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series and its sequel Kai. She's also directed Junjou Romantica and Nodame Cantabile Pari-hen. Beyond directing, she's contributed storyboard and composition work to Midori Days and handled the opening animation for Shōnen Onmyōji. Fans tend to credit her with bringing a particular visual and narrative sensibility to the psychological thriller and romance genres in anime.
