Synopsis

Romeo is a good-hearted kid living in a small Swiss village who catches the attention of Luini, a ruthless trafficker known as "The God of Death." Luini makes a living buying children and forcing them to work as chimney sweeps in Milan. When Luini visits the village, he deliberately burns down Romeo's family's cornfield—a move designed to pressure Romeo into working for him. With the crop destroyed and his father injured trying to save it, Romeo makes the tough choice to sell himself to Luini so his family can afford medical care. On the journey to Milan, Romeo befriends another boy named Alfredo Martini. The two grow close quickly, but get separated when sold to different masters. Before parting ways, they make a solemn pact to reunite someday. Life as a chimney sweep turns out to be brutal. Romeo endures constant abuse from his master's household and harassment from a local gang called the Wolf Pack. Things improve once he manages to reconnect with Alfredo. Together, they establish "The Black Brothers"—a brotherhood of chimney sweeps dedicated to standing up to the Wolf Pack and supporting each other through the hardships they face.
