Demons called Oni are invading Earth, and humans have no real way to defend themselves—until Dr. Saotome comes up with a solution: giant robots powered by something called Getter Rays. The most powerful one is Getter Robo, but it takes three pilots to run it. Saotome recruits an unlikely crew: Ryoma, a martial artist; Hayato, a criminal boss; and Benkei, a Buddhist monk. Despite their differences, these three have to work together as the Getter Team to take down the Oni threat once and for all.
