In a harsh, resource-starved wasteland, survival depends on airship convoys that transport vital supplies across the landscape. Mercenary pilots in single-engine fighters are basically all that stands between these deliveries and the pirates and warlords who want to raid them—they're the backbone holding civilization together in this brutal world. Kylie's a natural-born pilot with serious skills, and she joins the Kotobuki Squadron after being recruited by her childhood friend Emma. The squad's a tight crew of six flying Hayabusa fighters, taking whatever jobs come their way to protect supply runs, civilians, and whatever's left of order in their chaotic world. Kylie quickly proves herself invaluable to the team.
