Synopsis

Yuki Nagato is a quiet bookworm and gamer who runs North High's Literary Club. Her only members are the overly cautious Ryouko Asakura and Kyon, the most average guy around—though Yuki definitely has a thing for him. The peace and quiet of their little club is exactly what she loves, until Tsuruya and Mikuru Asahina start hanging around. These two couldn't be more different, but they show up at the clubroom pretty regularly anyway. One cold December day, Yuki gets roped into drawing weird symbols on the ground by some girl trying to catch Santa Claus. The girl is Haruhi Suzumiya, an eccentric student from the fancy Kouyouen Academy, and she's obsessed with finding aliens, time travelers, and espers. When Haruhi and her friend Itsuki Koizumi suddenly show up at the Literary Club declaring themselves members, Haruhi straight-up takes over as the new president. Say goodbye to the quiet life. Yuki and the gang find themselves tangled up in chaos after chaos under Haruhi's rule—but somehow all the craziness just keeps pushing Yuki and Kyon closer together.
