Synopsis

Ren Amamiya's a new transfer student at Shujin Academy, shipped off to Tokyo after taking the fall for defending a woman from sexual assault. On his way to school, he discovers a weird app on his phone that pulls him into the Metaverse—a twisted reality filled with people's "shadows," basically distorted versions of their true selves. Once there, Ren awakens his Persona, an inner power that lets him fight back against these shadows. He's not alone for long. Connecting with other troubled students, Ren forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a group dedicated to changing society by stealing people's hearts—literally making corrupt people feel remorse and reform. As their reputation spreads and their influence grows, so does the attention they attract, both good and bad. But their success doesn't last. Ren gets arrested and thrown into interrogation, which is interrupted by the arrival of prosecutor Sae Niijima. Now everything hinges on whether she'll believe his story and what she'll do about the Phantom Thieves.
