Kappa no Sanpei
Sanpei is a lazy seven-year-old who'd rather eat than pay attention in class. His classmates constantly tease him for looking like a kappa, but he doesn't really mind—he's a pretty easygoing kid, happy enough living in the mountains with his grandfather. When his school announces a swimming competition with a trip to Tokyo as the grand prize, Sanpei jumps at the chance. His mom's been living in the city for years, and this could finally be his shot to see her. Problem is, he can't swim. So he sneaks off to a nearby lake to practice in secret. One day, a strong current pulls him under and he drowns—only to wake up in a magical kappa realm. There, Sanpei befriends a young kappa named Gartaro and starts uncovering the truth about his mother's whereabouts and what really happened to his father.
