Maki is a hermit crab who Tatsumi rescued from a group of bullying kids. Despite his small size, he's got a whole personality—though it usually comes out as self-deprecating and pretty negative. The thing is, even a tiny bit of genuine kindness is enough to completely transform him. Show him some care and he'll come out of his shell, literally and figuratively, becoming this bright, happy little guy.
