Jean Bart is a former pirate slave under the Tenryuubito noble Saint Roswald before getting swept up in the chaos at the Human Auction House. When Luffy's recklessness caused a commotion there, Trafalgar Law took the opportunity to free him from his collar. Recognizing Jean Bart, Law immediately offered him a spot in the Heart Pirates.
Jean Bart didn't hesitate to accept—it had been years since anyone had even called him by his name. He joined Law's crew and the two fought alongside each other against the Marines that day.
