Mercurius
Age: At least 30,000-40,000
Mercurius—also called the King of Mercury or Karl Ernst Krafft—is the Fourth Heaven and a major antagonist in Dies Irae. He's best known as the ominous magician and alchemist who created Ewigkeit and founded the Obsidian Round Table, effectively transforming the LDO from a group of occult-dabbling military officers into something far darker.
Physically, he's an androgynous man with long dark blue hair, and fans often note how uncannily similar he looks to both Ren and Lotus. His sensories share his general appearance with only minor variations. He typically wears long black tattered robes, though he's been spotted in various outfits throughout the series.
What defines Mercurius most is his fundamental boredom. He chases the unknown not out of curiosity but because he's hopelessly restless. This manifests as a relaxed, calm, and deeply manipulative demeanor—the kind that infuriates almost everyone around him. He's also philosophical and poetic, prone to long, winding monologues that underscore his detached worldview.
Within the LDO hierarchy, Mercurius occupies a strange position. He's the sworn friend and only true equal of the Table's leader, and while he functions as a kind of mentor or father figure to the organization, the other members treat him as a hateful taboo. Everyone except their master wants nothing to do with him.
As for his current whereabouts? Nobody's seen him in over six decades.
