Phantom—callsign Barbie 03—is a small anima with green hair and brown eyes, based on the RF-4EJ Phantom II, a tactical reconnaissance aircraft. She holds the distinction of being Japan's first anima built from salvaged Xi parts, which meant she got put through the wringer during development. Extensive testing and combat simulations shaped her worldview in ways that still show today: she's risk-averse by nature, obsessed with the mission of protecting humanity above almost everything else.
Kei finds her mean and sarcastic, though really she's just logical and pragidiomatic to the point of coldness. She's got a pragmatic streak that occasionally tips into something darker—like the time she actually tried to hurt Kei to bench him from a mission, claiming it was "for his own good." Her expertise in electronic warfare and signals analysis is genuine, and she knows it. That confidence took a hit, though, when Kei and Gripen managed to outfly her in a simulated dogfight.
She serves as the third member of the Independent Mixed Test Unit.
