Wave joined the Jaegers as a straightforward, well-meaning fighter—basically the closest thing the group has to a Tatsumi equivalent. He grew up in a small coastal town and served in the Imperial Navy before signing up, showing up to his first Jaegers meeting with an enormous bag of seafood, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about him. Like Tatsumi, he's sword-competent in a real fight, though fans often note he's mainly there for comic relief.
His Teigu is Grand Chariot, an armor-type weapon that's essentially a newer, upgraded version of Incursio. It gives him solid defensive and offensive capability despite his mostly goofy demeanor.
When he first arrived at headquarters, he ran into Bors, who was too shy to really acknowledge him until the rest of the crew showed up. His straightforward, helpful attitude—looking out for people's emotional wellbeing—is pretty much his defining trait.
