Volkan serves as one of the series' main sources of comedy, usually paired with his hapless sidekick Dortin. He's basically the schemer of the duo—except his schemes are terrible. Volkan despises Orphen (constantly calling him "the black wizard") and takes every opportunity to sabotage whatever the guy and his crew are trying to accomplish. His interference annoys Orphen so much that magic blasts are pretty much a standard response to get him and Dortin out of the picture.
Money and power are Volkan's only real motivations. Pretty much every half-baked plan he cooks up is aimed at grabbing one or both of those things, yet they all inevitably fall apart. He loves ordering Dortin around in the meantime, which plays out for laughs more often than not.
