Gyuuki
Also known as: Ushi-Oni (牛鬼, Ox Demon)
Gyuuki is a sea-dwelling youkai with a pretty wild design—think ox head and horns grafted onto a spider's body. The face is all demon, complete with that unsettling wide grin and jagged teeth that makes him instantly recognizable. He's technically a kaijuu, though "giant monster" doesn't quite capture what Shigeru Mizuki was going for.
Most often he shows up as an antagonist, though some adaptations have played him as an ally to Kitarou instead. Regardless of which side he's on, fans often note that Mizuki's take on Gyuuki shares a lot of DNA with his Tsuchi-Gumo design—similar vibes, different execution.
