Bawabawa is a giant, eel-like hollow that mostly serves as a ride for Pesche, Dondochakka, and Nel Tu—though he's technically a pet too. His mask is pretty simple, just a flat plate on his head topped with a pair of horns. The running joke is that he gets genuinely upset about being left out of the group's ridiculous super sentai-style intros.
Early on, Pesche and Dondo claim Bawabawa needs sand to survive, which is why he doesn't come along to Las Noches. Turns out that's not entirely true though. During the fight with Szayel Aporro Granz, Dondo actually spits Bawabawa out of his mouth mid-battle. Pesche later explains that Bawabawa isn't actually a separate creature at all—he's one of many spiritual combat insects that live inside Dondochakka's body.
