Synopsis

Ichigo Kurosaki is a typical high school kid until a Hollow—a malicious spirit that feeds on human souls—attacks his family. That's when he crosses paths with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who gets badly hurt defending Ichigo's loved ones. To protect them, Ichigo takes her up on a desperate offer: he absorbs her powers and becomes a Soul Reaper himself. The catch is Rukia can't recover her abilities, so Ichigo's stuck with the responsibility of hunting down the Hollows infesting their town. Fortunately he doesn't have to do it alone. His classmates Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida eventually join the fight, each bringing their own special powers to the table. As Ichigo and his friends get the hang of their new role and lean on each other both in and out of combat, Ichigo discovers something troubling: Hollows are far from the only danger threatening the human world.
