One of the last surviving Quincy and a friend of Ichigo's, Uryuu Ishida is best known for his quiet, bookish demeanor—though he tries way too hard to seem cool around other people. He's got dark blue hair, glasses, and tends to dress sharp: school uniform with tie during the day, traditional white Quincy garb with blue stripes when he's out working. He even carries a spare mantle sometimes, purely for aesthetic purposes, despite it obviously getting in his way during fights.
Uryuu operates by a strict moral code called the "Pride of the Quincy" and has a genuine sense of justice. He's chivalrous to a fault, stepping in to defend women he sees being mistreated—whether that's Rukia against Renji and Byakuya, or Orihime during the Soul Society arc. In combat, he avoids lethal force when he can; incapacitating an opponent is his preference.
