Kemo spent his early career working for KaibaCorp under Gozaburo Kaiba. When Zigfried von Schroeder hacked into the company's mainframe, Kemo was the one who brought it to Gozaburo's attention. He later helped escort Seto Kaiba out of the building after a heated argument between father and son over whether KaibaCorp's virtual technology should be weaponized.
During the Duelist Kingdom tournament, Kemo switched employers and worked directly for Maximillion Pegasus. He's best known for being one of Pegasus's enforcers on the island—the guy who dealt with problems that required muscle rather than card-slinging. When Mokuba Kaiba lost his duel against Yami Yugi, Kemo grabbed him, but Yami wasn't having it and challenged Kemo on the spot. Since Kemo himself wasn't a duelist, he arranged for someone called Ghost Kaiba to fight in his place instead. Yami won anyway, and Kemo dragged Mokuba off to Pegasus regardless.
Things got awkward when Seto Kaiba showed up on the island. Kemo confronted him with a gun, though Seto managed to disarm him and force him to reveal where Mokuba was being held. Later, Kemo tried to keep Téa, Tristan, and Bakura from entering Pegasus's castle by insisting they weren't official duelists, but Mai Valentine flirted with him until he was too distracted to notice them slip through the door.
By the time the Legendary Heroes arc rolled around, Kemo was back to trying to stop Yugi and Joey's friends from reaching their bodies in the virtual world. Téa and Tristan managed to hold him off using furniture as barricades. When everyone woke up after the Big Five were defeated, Kemo gave up and disappeared—unemployed and probably not eager to stick around.
