Aegis is an android built by the Kirijo Group—basically the last one they made before scrapping their whole anti-Shadow weapon program. She's got an arsenal that'd make most soldiers jealous: machine guns, rocket launchers, long-range rifles, and yeah, actual rocket punches. In terms of raw durability, she's tougher than anyone else on the team, and her Personas are built around hitting hard and hitting often.
She first shows up during SEES' beach trip, caught in the middle of both Mitsuru's official retrieval mission and Junpei's. well, let's call it his personal agenda. Right from the start, she's weirdly protective of the Main Character in a way that baffles even her. Ikutsuki throws her at SEES as support and gets her enrolled at Gekkoukan High as the MC's bodyguard, which is the cover story anyway.
The Persona 3: FES epilogue, Episode Aegis (called The Answer), actually lets you play through the whole thing as Aegis instead. She's somehow gained the ability to summon multiple Personas—a power the Main Character had—and takes the lead. Also, if you're into that sort of thing, FES lets you date her too.
