Kouzou Shirogane was the head coach at Teikou Junior High until health issues forced him to step down. He's best known for coaching the Generation of Miracles during their dominant first and second years—basically guiding the most talented basketball players of their generation. Sanada took over as coach after Shirogane's illness made it impossible for him to continue.
