Koltopi's ability works through touch: he uses his left hand to scan an object, then his right hand produces an exact replica. The catch is that he can only copy inanimate things—living creatures come out as lifeless objects, which probably explains how he created those fake corpses of his group members. He also can't replicate another person's nen abilities.
The replicas last exactly 24 hours before vanishing, no matter how big they are. But here's the useful part: Koltopi can track every copied object's movements as long as he's touched the original. This makes Gallery Fake surprisingly practical for surveillance.
