Deidara's a missing-nin from Iwagakure who started out as a terrorist bomber for hire—work that caught Pain's attention. Pain wanted him in Akatsuki, but Deidara wasn't interested. That changed after Itachi Uchiha defeated him; humiliated, he was forced to join. He never got over that loss. Deidara became obsessed with beating Itachi and even trained one of his eyes specifically to counter genjutsu.
Within the organization, he was partnered with Sasori, whose artistic vision he genuinely respected. After Sasori died, Tobi became his partner, and despite constantly getting annoyed with him, Deidara looked after the guy like a mentor. His final act was even about protecting Tobi.
Combat-wise, Deidara's whole thing is Exploding Clay. He's got mouths in the palms of his hands that create chakra-infused clay he can detonate on command—usually triggered by shouting "Katsu." The more chakra he pumps into it, the stronger the blast. His creations range from tiny to absolutely massive, sometimes taking the form of giant clay versions of himself. He rates his work on a scale from C1 to C4, with C4 being his most devastating technique. What really sets him off is his belief that his art is beautiful because it explodes, and that conviction makes him dangerous but also overconfident. For his ultimate move, he's got a mouth on his chest that turns his entire body into a living bomb capable of leveling everything within a 10-kilometer radius.
