Dortin basically exists to be the voice of reason nobody listens to. When Volkan inevitably screws something up, Dortin's go-to move is desperately trying to convince Orphen that he had nothing to do with it. But here's the thing: it doesn't matter. Both of them end up on the receiving end of Orphen's magical attacks anyway, no matter how much Dortin protests. He's basically collateral damage in other people's chaos—which, in a weird way, has become his defining character trait.
