Kazushi Hasegawa has history with Hisashi Mitsui going back years. During junior high, he got a taste of Mitsui's confidence firsthand—and came away on the losing end. When they crossed paths again in high school, Hasegawa was taken aback by how much Mitsui had changed, having fallen into delinquency in the meantime. They finally squared off again during the final match of the Kanagawa Interhigh Tournament, where Hasegawa stepped up to mark Mitsui personally in a box-and-one defense.
