Touka is the protagonist of Yuusha ga Shinda!, a farmer from Cheza village with an. unconventional hobby involving kneesocks and harvested vegetables. He's childhood friends with Yuna Yunis, another villager.
His unremarkable life takes a sharp turn when a demon attacks. Touka's plan to stop it—a pitfall trap baited with cooked bacon—backfires spectacularly. The demon hates bacon and just keeps destroying things until the actual Hero shows up and kills it. Problem is, Touka's trap is still there, and the hungry Hero falls straight into it and dies.
Rather than face the music, Touka convinces everyone to bury the Hero quietly and claim he vanished. It's a solid plan in theory. It doesn't last past morning.
Touka wakes up in the Hero's body. Turns out one of the Hero's companions—a necromancer—had other ideas. She swapped Touka's consciousness into the dead Hero's corpse and locked his original body away to force him into the Hero's role. The catch? The body keeps decomposing anyway. By the time Touka realizes what's happened, he's already a walking skeleton.
