The Master
The Master runs the Temple, a faction within the Junior Duelist Center, though details about him remain scarce. He's best known as Hakuoh's coach and mentor, though their relationship is far more complicated than it appears.
For most of the first season, he stays mysterious—showing up in a long black hooded robe with his face half-hidden behind long blond hair. Knight suggests the Master's interest in Hakuoh isn't purely mentorship; fans often note that Knight implies the Master is grooming Hakuoh as a tool for his own revenge against the creature world. The theory gains credence when you consider how hard the Master pushes Hakuoh to attack Shobu, even after Hakuoh loses, and how Hakuoh seems to follow orders without question. Whether through genuine manipulation or something darker, the Master appears responsible for Hakuoh's apparent brainwashing.
After Hakuoh's defeat at the end of Season 1, the Master vanishes from the series entirely and never reappears.
