He was a mid-level operator in organized crime—a lieutenant who'd handled the syndicate's money and assets. At one point, he backed their investment in an underground bank that was basically a money-laundering operation, but he got spooked by rumors about who was really running it (turns out it was Johan Liebert) and pulled their money out before the whole thing collapsed into chaos. That decision probably saved them a fortune.
Things fell apart after that. Most of his family cut ties with him once they realized what he actually did for a living, and his own boss tried to have him killed—allegedly over some financial dealings with a rival organization. He disappeared to a remote villa in the mountains near Füssen, keeping a low profile.
That's where he met Dr. Kenzo Tenma, who was working off the books as a black market doctor at the time. The doctor's assistant Otto Heckel made this incredible chicken marengo (supposedly Napoleon's favorite dish), and despite everything—the danger, the bodyguard duties, all of it—he actually relaxed enough to have a proper meal with them and Dieter outside. It's one of those oddly human moments: this crime guy sitting down to eat in the sunshine.
Things got messy when Eva Heinemann showed up at the villa with Roberto, both looking for Tenma. Roberto shot Eva in the leg, but Tenma patched her up. She ended up staying in his care while she recovered, and they ate that same chicken marengo together. He told her she was lucky—lucky to be alive, lucky to have a day like that.
He was interviewed once by Werner Weber, though his real name was kept out of the record.
