Cyprine and Ptilol are the fifth of the Witches 5—though technically, they're the same person. According to creator Naoko Takeuchi, Ptilol is just an extension of Cyprine's power that's taken on its own form. They act as a single entity despite appearing as two.
The anime and manga handle their introduction differently. In the anime, Cyprine seems like the final witch until she's cornered and reveals Ptilol as her "other self." The two prove nearly unstoppable against the Sailor Senshi since one blocks attacks while the other counterattacks from behind. The Senshi only win by tricking them into blasting each other.
The manga version is more brutal. Cyprine, ranked at level 999 among the witches, was specifically sent by Kaolinite to eliminate the Sailor Senshi. She's from the Sorcery Class at Infinity Academy. After attacking Haruka in her apartment, she faces off against Sailor Uranus, the Inner Senshi, and the Outer Senshi. Her real weapon is psychological—she magnifies the existing tension between the Inner and Outer groups, nearly tearing them apart. When Sailor Moon's initial Moon Spiral Heart Attack fails, Cyprine splits into her dual form. Sailor Moon counters by channeling power from all the senshi to create the Holy Grail and transform into Super Sailor Moon, then finishes both halves with Rainbow Moon Heart Ache.
Cyprine's name comes from the mineral of the same name.
