Shawlong has a long face with black hair braided and draped over his shoulder. His hollow mask is mostly gone, though a fragment sits on top of his head with a piece dropping down to cover part of his face—just eye slots cut into it. He dresses like a typical arrancar: white jacket with black lining, white hakama, and a black sash. He's one of the few arrancar who actually zips his jacket up properly, which means his hollow hole isn't visible.
As arrancar number 11, he's not necessarily the 11th strongest. The numbering system works differently—arrancar 11 and up are ranked by birth order, then the top 10 get pulled out and renumbered 1-10 as the Espada. So his actual power level is basically a mystery, except that he's definitely not among the elite ten.
What sets Shawlong apart is his intelligence. He stands out compared to most arrancar we've seen, acting like Grimmjow's right hand during their invasion of the material world. He apparently pushed hard for the whole attack in the first place, based on things he said while Grimmjow was arguing with Ulquiorra. Shawlong's the one who insisted that if someone isn't worth killing, there's no point letting them live either—basically backing Grimmjow's complaint that Ulquiorra should've just finished off Ichigo instead of leaving him alive.
