Dead Apostle Ancestor No. 10
A shapeless mass of chaos and living matter—essentially a primordial soup made up of the accumulated lives of 666 creatures merged into a single being. The Church named him "Nero" as a gematric joke; the letters add up to 666, the Number of the Beast.
He started out as an alchemist named Fabro Rowan from the Sea of Estray, a region in northern Europe where smaller sorcerer organizations clustered together. His obsession with immortality drove him to devise a method of absorbing and merging with the lives of other creatures. It worked, sort of—he achieved his goal, but the result was something he could barely comprehend: a collective consciousness made of hundreds of merged existences, all nominally aligned with his will but ultimately beyond his full control.
What makes him interesting is the contradiction at his core. He was aware his individual mind was dissolving as it merged with all these animal consciousnesses, yet that didn't stop him. His real drive wasn't just to live forever—it was to understand the chaos he'd become. Whether he ever did is unclear, but the pursuit seems to have defined what he is.
