The story follows a flawed recreation of the Third Holy Grail War. Decades after the original conflict in Fuyuki, an American magical organization—separate from the London-based Mage Association—got their hands on data about how that war actually worked. They spent the next seventy years planning their own version, setting it in the city of Snowfield. The problem? They couldn't get everything right. The ritual ended up as a pale imitation of the real thing. The Saber class disappeared entirely, and because their definition of what counts as a "hero" got muddled, all kinds of weird Servants got summoned instead.
