East Kaioshin rules the Eastern Quadrant of the Universe alongside his closest friends, answering to Dai Kaioshin, the Grand Supreme Kai. He's a short, purple-skinned deity with white hair who dresses in elaborate Kaio robes and is rarely seen without Kibito, his loyal bodyguard and companion.
When Majin Buu attacked the Kaioshin, East Kaioshin was the sole survivor—a fact that still bothers him, since he's admitted to being the weakest of the four. After that, everyone just calls him Kaioshin, since there's no one else around to mix him up with. Dragon Ball Super eventually revealed his actual name is Shin, which fans noticed was the alias he'd used back when he and Kibito competed in the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai at the start of the Majin Buu arc.
