Dren served as Char Aznable's right hand during the initial assault on Side 7, sticking with him through the entire pursuit of the White Base down to Earth. After Garma Zabi's death, Char got reassigned to Belfast, but Dren stayed the course—he eventually took command of the Camel Squadron and moved back into space. When the White Base returned to join the fight, Char brought Dren and his patrol squadron in to even the odds. Things didn't go well though. During the engagement, the Gundam sliced through Dren's Musai cruiser with its beam saber, tearing a hole in the hull. Dren got sucked out into space and didn't make it back.
