The Prime Minister
A towering, demonic figure with a crown of horns sprouting from his head, the Prime Minister is the true power behind the Empire—he pulls Emperor Makoto's strings while the young ruler serves as little more than a puppet. He's the series' main antagonist, driven by a single-minded obsession with maintaining his own power at any cost. Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army earned his particular hatred.
Makoto only won the succession struggle thanks to the Prime Minister's manipulation and scheming. His predecessor, Chouri, had been a genuinely decent guy with real conviction—exactly the kind of threat the Prime Minister couldn't tolerate. When Chouri started pushing to return to the capital and reverse the Empire's decline, the Prime Minister didn't hesitate. He ordered Esdeath and her elite unit, the Three Beasts, to kill him.
As for his personal life, he has a son named Syura, who currently runs the secret police organization Wild Hunt. He also had a blood relative named Iwokaru, though Night Raid eventually took care of that problem.
One thing you'll notice about him: he's always eating. And honestly, he cares about almost nothing except keeping himself in power—he'll burn the whole world down if it means staying on top.
