Aoi got into animation back in high school when she joined a club with four friends. Together they made an anime called "Shinbutsu Konkou Shichifukujin" for the school's cultural festival—though she'll be the first to admit she wasn't great at drawing, CG, scriptwriting, or voice acting. Before graduation, the girls made a pact to reunite someday and create another anime together, sealing the deal over donuts. While everyone else seemed to know exactly where they wanted to go in the anime industry, Aoi graduated without a clear plan and landed at Musashino Animation as a production assistant on the series Exodus!
After her first year, the studio took on an adaptation of the manga The Third Girl Aerials Squad, and director Seiichi Kinoshita promoted Aoi to Head Production Assistant after her colleague Yutaka Honda left to pursue his own goals. It was a sudden jump that threw her into the deep end—suddenly she was drowning in responsibilities.
What defines Aoi is her relentless positivity and work ethic. She genuinely cares about her friends and colleagues, stays calm under pressure, and approaches every problem with real determination. Despite being new to the studio, she adapted fast, learning to handle the constant stress of production work. Her persistence and willingness to solve problems gained her respect from people all over the industry. When things get messy—and they always do in anime production—she doesn't panic. She figures it out.
