Brushbuddy is a small white creature from the brushbuddy species in Witch Hat Atelier. He was born in the Dadah Range up north on the Zozah Peninsula, one of three siblings, but ended up at Qifrey's Atelier after meeting Coco during the Consent of the Crown test. He's stuck around ever since.

Physically, Brushbuddy's pretty typical for his kind—though he's got a distinctive patch of fur between his eyes that sets him apart. His full-length tail marks him as fully grown.
Personality-wise, he's not the deepest character, but fans appreciate him mostly for the comedy he brings. Like any self-respecting brushbuddy, he's drawn to magic ink, which explains his constant hanging around the atelier and its apprentices. He's developed a noticeable bond with Richeh, the two showing up together throughout the story. He gets irritable if you pet or hug him too much, which is fair enough.
There's a running gag where Brushbuddy attempts to keep a journal documenting the behavior of Coco and the others at the atelier—with hilariously little to show for it.
In the Volume 4 bonus chapter, Brushbuddy uses the pompous Japanese pronoun 吾輩 (wagahai), typically reserved for noblemen rather than pets. It's a clear nod to I Am A Cat, the famous Japanese novel. His Japanese name, フデムシ (fudemushi), combines the words for "inkbrush" (fude) and "bug" (mushi).
