Anzu Hoshino is the anti-heroine protagonist of the story. A first-year high school student, she's pretty straightforward about what she wants out of life: video games, cats, and chocolate—basically in that order. Romance? Not interested, especially not the kind that happens in shojo manga. Her friend Riri seems determined to throw romantic scenarios at her anyway, but Anzu's got the logic and self-awareness to shut that down.
Despite her "I don't care" attitude about love, she's genuinely caring when it comes to her friends. She can't just ignore someone who's struggling, even when it'd be easier to. That said, she's got one thing that completely undoes her composure: cockroaches. They terrify her.
