King Faron of Brune
Faron ruled Brune as a fair and compassionate king—until his daughter Princess Regin apparently died, an event that shattered him psychologically and left him physically deteriorating. Unable to maintain control over his nobles Ganelon and Thenardier, he became increasingly sidelined as the kingdom descended into chaos. It's later discovered he'd been poisoned by Ganelon's agents, a slow kill that kept him broken and sick just long enough for the conspirators to seize power.
When the civil war finally ends and Regin is found alive, Faron experiences a brief recovery. He officially acknowledges his daughter as a member of the royal family and names her his heir, then thanks Tigre and his companions for saving her and dismantling both conspirators' schemes.
With his last breaths, Faron grants Tigre the title of Knight of the Moonlight—an ancient honor that historically was only bestowed on heroes destined to become the next king of Brune. The true significance of this gift remains a secret known only to Badowin.
