His guild had sketchy dealings even before everything went down, and he's become pretty infamous for his obsessive pursuit of Serara—mostly to make it clear who's in charge. He's been successful enough at it that she's basically stuck and can't return to her guild back in Akiba. Fans of the series often note that he represents one of the more antagonistic forces working against the main characters, using his authority as guild master to cause problems for anyone who gets in his way.
