Souichirou heads the Shimogamo family and is the father of the Shimogamo siblings. He's one of Kyoto's most respected tanuki, known for bringing tanuki society together under his leadership. He's probably best remembered for the False Nyoigatake Incident, when he transformed into an entire mountain to scare off the Kurama tengus—a pretty wild move that shows just how powerful he was. Fans often bring up the darker side of his story too: he was eventually eaten as an ingredient in a hot pot by the Friday Fellows, which remains one of the series' most shocking moments.
