Appearance
Willibald starts out looking pretty rough—shaggy light blond hair, matching beard, gray eyes, the whole unkempt package. Once he settles at Gainsborough, though, he cleans up considerably: he shaves and gets a tonsure, then sticks to wearing a simple black robe and shoes.
Personality
He's deeply religious, but also a serious drinker. The thing is, when he's sober, he gets irritable and won't shut up about God and morality. Strong alcohol is basically the only thing that can actually calm him down. Willibald has some pretty grim philosophical takes—he views affection and love as a form of discrimination, and he's convinced that death is the only true expression of love. It's dark stuff, and it shapes how he sees the world around him.
