Akisame is the philosophical jujutsu master and resident doctor at Ryozanpaku. He knew Miu's father, Fuurinji Saiga, years back, and was actually the first of the masters willing to take on Kenichi as a student—though he's definitely not the gentlest about it. Despite his lean frame, he's built with almost ridiculous muscle control and conditioning. He's got an uncanny ability to read people, picking up on what they're hiding or even what they're thinking, which frankly freaks Kenichi out.
Beyond martial arts, Akisame is a legendary craftsman who's mastered calligraphy, painting, pottery, and sculpting. He's constantly tinkering with inventions—many of which double as training equipment for Kenichi and power sources for the dojo, like a generator treadmill system.
He runs an orthopedic clinic where he can reset and fix bones with remarkable ease. His medical knowledge is so refined that it actually shaped his whole approach to physical conditioning. The medical community knows him as "the medic demon," and honestly, they're a bit afraid of him. He's proven it too: he once saved Apachai's life when the guy had a hole in his side, performing surgery mid-flight using supplies from Shigure and pulling it off flawlessly.
There's clearly some bad blood between Akisame and James Shiba, Takeda's master. James loves needling him about his mustache, which Akisame doesn't appreciate. The tension escalated to the point where they actually bet their mustaches on their disciples' match outcome.
