Aisa is a young Shandian girl born with the rare ability called "mantra"—a form of sensing or perception that shapes her entire personality. Because she can sense death coming, she's genuinely haunted by it and will throw herself into dangerous situations headfirst trying to prevent it, even without a real plan. It's both her defining trait and her biggest weakness.
She's close with Laki and regularly brings her gifts of dirt from the sky, which the Shandians call Vearth and consider sacred. Aisa desperately wants to prove herself as a fighter like the other warriors around her, though she's initially intimidated by Wiper—a fear she gradually gets over as the two grow closer.
She's got a tomboy streak; when Laki once suggested she let her hair grow out because it'd be cute, Aisa shut that down immediately with visible disgust. She'd rather be tough than adorable, and that pretty much says everything about her priorities.
